Another Altered Butterfly

This butterfly shape is actually a "page" from a Bo Bunny butterfly album. I thought this page would make a nice wall hanging. The little girl image is from Paper Whimsy, I used Tattered Angels glimmer mist (old lace) to add some color to the gauze, and buttercup yellow paint for the delicate twigs.

Years ago I found this piece of old blue glass in a pasture, it was just perfect for this creation!

Happy December 1st!! Oh my gosh, Christmas is just around the corner!

The lace was originally white, I rolled up a piece and placed it in a bottle of Tsukineko walnut ink, squeezed out the excess and dried with my heat gun, then added some tiny gold beads and glitter. The vintage looking holly image is from an awesome K & Company packet called "Yuletide".

Here is another "Tilda" card, except for her face, hands and legs,

I "colored" her with eye shadows colored pencils.

This little snowman called out to me from the shelf in a local craft store . . . he was soooo cute, I just "had" to take him home! Now you know the rest of the story of what I made with the snowflake embellishment. I "colored" the flower with a Copic marker, added the snowflake "center" and a delicate twig from the yard which I painted blue and then accented with glitter.

Have you ever had one of those days when you "thought" you knew exactly where that special embellishment or decorative paper was and you searched and search and maybe if you where lucky it turned up hours later? Well that is what happened to me this afternoon. I knew exactly where the small zip lock bag was containing my snowflake and holly embellishments. Well, I thought I did . . . . . . .
I tore my "rubber room" apart looking for this little snowflake . . .

Want to guess where it was? Yep, on my desk the entire time !!!!!

Now I wonder how it got there!!!!!

For those of you who are not familiar with this style card, it is called a Tri Shutter card. There are several different versions of the card and once you get the hang of where to place your folds and cuts, it is not as intimidating as it might look.

The last few days I have been looking through Fall magazines and visiting some wonderful blog sites featuring decorative vintage and country items and how they are used throughout the various homes. Today I thought I would stray from my usual "artful" posting and give you a little peek into my personal life and share with you a few of my favorite things.

Welcome to a little corner of our country/vintage kitchen.

Our resident teddy bear has graciously given up his seat of honor so his Fall cousin can enjoy the view from the vintage high chair for a few months!

Discovered this old sifter at a local antique mall, to give it a little personality I asked Martha from Apple Tree Cottage if she would paint it for me. So pleased with how it turned out.

This adorable clay shop made by Windy Meadows dates back to 1988. Luv the whimsical architecture and muted colors. Our resident teddy bear has graciously given up his seat of honor so his Fall cousin can enjoy the view from the vintage high chair for a few months!

This old scale usual sits atop the "frig," but this year I decided to give it a place of honor on our little table.

I thought if I created something for Christmas it might "cool" things off here in Southern Texas. Yesterday our "high" reached 103 degrees -- way toooo hot for me!
This little chipboard clipboard measures approx. 1 1/2" wide and 2" high.
I used a rust kit on the shiny metal clip to give it a more aged look.

Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia.

Another one of my favorite images. I discovered I had a piece of vinyl window screen tucked away in a drawer, so I added it for a little background interest, the main image is mounted on foam tape.

This Easter card was created for a dear friend in FL who has a special liking for Paper Whimsy images. I cut an "egg" shape from a piece of matboard, added a decorative background paper, and "colored" a piece of gauze with an ink pad. I then glued the Paper Whimsy image on a piece of cardboard and added some embellishments before mounting the egg to a card.

It's hard to believe Easter is less than a week away! Where did the month of March go?? Recently, I discovered some white "paper" flowers by Hero Arts. At first I could not figure out how to "color" them, then I decided to step outside my "comfort zone" and tried using a very light coat of paint. Wonderful results, now I cannot stop painting flowers! Ü

Bittersweet . . .

It is still difficult for me to grasp the realization that my dear Mom of 90 passed away 3 weeks ago today at home in her sleep. This was Mom's favorite time of the year, she loved the magic that surrounds Christmas , all the colorful decorations, holiday lights and festive music and songs.

The days and weeks following Mom's passing have been filled with mixed emotions, happy memories, sad regrets, and a feeling of emptiness. Christmas will be bittersweet this year.

I'd like to think a "magical" place exists where there is no pain, no disease, no suffering, no conflicts, no war, only happiness, love and respect for one another.

Mom, we will miss your kisses, hugs, smile, jokes, laughter and presence.
